The planets in 2015: Venus

Venus is a fast moving planet spending approximately 25 days in each sign of the zodiac – moving just over a degree a day. Venus symbolises love, money, pleasure and sensory experience, attraction – “pulling power”, beauty, the arts, aesthetics, luxury and enjoyment. Venus corresponds to the throat, neck and the voice. Venus is the planetary ruler of both Taurus and Libra.

Venus begins 2015 at 26 degrees Capricorn on January 1 and ends 2016 at 0 Sagittarius.

Venus goes retrograde and spends over 4 months in Leo!

Approximately every 2 years Venus goes retrograde, appearing to move backwards in the sky. The retrograde period means that Venus can spend much longer in a particular sign. So while each area of our horoscope is graced by Venus for almost a month, in 2015 Venus will grace the creative a fiery sign of Leo for over 4 months. Wherever Leo falls in your horoscope is an area of significant action this year. Venus enters Leo on June 6, so from June 6 to October 9 all of us have particular Venus matters to work through – wherever Leo is in your horoscope is the arena for this energy.

The details: On June 6 venus enters Leo and heads entirely through the sign until she reaches 0 Virgo on 19 July. Venus hangs around at this degree for 13 days – note this time can be significant for anyone with planets or points at the beginning of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces).

On October 9 Venus finally reaches Virgo and continues her journey. Venus will not go retrograde again until 2017.

Where is Venus impacting your chart?

Wherever Leo is in your horoscope will be unusually emphasised by the planet of grace, charm, pleasure, beauty and money for a number of months starting from June. For example, when Venus transits our Ascendent and first house we tend to energetically be more attractive to people and/or attract *more* to us. For anyone with a Leo rising, this energy will last over 4 months in 2015.  If Venus is transiting your 9th house during this transit it is more likely that educational and travel pursuits will be smiled upon by Venus. Leo is a fire sign and an extremely creative energy, so artistic and creative pursuits are emphasised during this period too.

If you don’t know what area of your horoscope is governed by Venus, send through your birthdate, place and time, and we will cast a chart to check (for free).
